White fillings allow us to repair and restore teeth that have become damaged from decay or wear and tear in a subtle, and natural-looking way.

With white fillings, there’s no need to worry about unsightly silver-coloured fillings leaving your smile looking less aesthetically pleasing. While amalgam fillings still have their place, at Crown House Dental Practice, we place white fillings wherever possible and suitable, both at the front and back of the mouth. Advances in dental materials mean these fillings are durable and long-lasting, as well as natural-looking and smile-enhancing.

FAQs

What are white fillings made of?
White fillings are usually made of a composite resin material. Composite resin fillings offer patients a completely natural-looking finish alongside durability, allowing us to repair your teeth without disrupting the aesthetic look of your smile.

Why do I need a filling?
We use fillings to repair caries, which usually develop as a result of tooth decay. Teeth can also become damaged due to simple wear and tear, or from an injury or accident to the face.

What is the process of getting a white filling like?
Receiving a white filling is similar to receiving a traditional filling. After determining that this is the correct treatment for you at a consultation, you’ll come back into the practice to have the tooth cleaned, and any infection and damaged enamel removed. We’ll then apply a gel to the tooth which is used to help ensure the filling material adheres to the tooth, and we’ll carefully shape it so that it fits in perfectly with the rest of the mouth. This material will then be cured under a special light so that it hardens and settles in place.

How do I take care of my white filling?
White fillings can be treated just as you treat your natural teeth with a proper dental hygiene routine that includes brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes and regular flossing or use of an interdental toothbrush. Our team will also be able to provide patients with advice on how to avoid the need for further fillings.
